golden week! (and a few other things..)

golden week is a week full of three japanese holidays: children's day, greenery day, and constitution memorial day.

it's called golden week because everyone enjoys "golden" time off. i enjoyed my time going hiking and to a baseball game.

the city life can get old really fast. being from oklahoma, i need open space and fresh air every so often. so hiking was really refreshing. of course, it was still in the greater tokyo area. this city is SO big! it takes hours to get out of it.

the baseball game was amazing! we watched the chiba marines vs. some other team from north of tokyo. we were rooting for the marines because chiba is part of tokyo but unfortunately they lost.. :(

but! it was still awesome to watch because japanese baseball is a little different from american baseball. each player has his own cheer and when the pitcher is changed, the new pitcher comes out on the field in a car. yeah, that's right, a car. kinda tacky..

another thing i noticed that was in the way the cheers were done. in america when we are cheering we always yell our cheer with a fist but in japan, or at least at this game, they yell with an open hand. you can click on the picture and see for yourself. kinda interesting, huh?

also this month my parents and sister, danielle, came to visit. they had lots of fun (i hope!) here and got to see much of what i do.

danielle is still here hanging out and helping with the volunteers and the ministry. i'm so glad to have her help. she'll be here until june 14.

anyway, that about sums up this month. take care everyone!

How boring that you haven't updated this site in forever. I'm sure you could spare a few minutes to do that.
